Student accommodation provider, Kingsway Apartments has donated funds to a local cyclist aiming to complete a 1,000km trip from Paris to Milan in aid of Mary’s Meals.

The Perth-based fundraiser, Oliver Niven-Smith is planning to complete the gruelling journey, completely on his own, to raise money for the Scottish based charity, Mary’s Meals. The organisation, which was set up to provide a solution to World hunger, and today provides meals to over 1,500,000 school children in some of the poorest nations in the World.

Kingsway Apartments Director, Leanne Carling, spotted Oliver’s challenge online and decided to support his efforts: “As a keen cyclist myself Oliver’s post jumped out at me and anyone who is willing to take on a 1,000km solo cycle, especially in aid of such a worthwhile cause has my admiration.”

Leanne Carling added: “As student accommodation providers we are aware of some of the amazing things young adults are doing and thought Oliver deserve our support and recognition for his selfless efforts. We wish him all the best and hope others support his campaign.”

Mary’s Meals states that it costs only £13.90 to feed a child for an entire year and that approximately 18,000 children die every day from hunger related illnesses. Oliver will embark on his trip, from Paris, at the beginning of September and has created a JustGiving page and has targeted raising £1390, enough to feed 100 children for an entire year.
